Frequently Asked Questions: Ordering and Downloading

Ordering and Downloading

Can I preview videos and other media before I buy?

Yes, FaithVisuals.com offers a free stream of every video and other media before you purchase. This gives you the opportunity to see exactly what you'll receive and if it fits your needs. We hope you enjoy browsing our site and seeing what we have to offer.

How do I download the visual media I ordered?

After you place your order, you should receive a confirmation page with links to the media that you purchased. Right click on the title that's underlined, and click "Save Target." Save the file to your local computer.

If you missed the confirmation page, you also will receive a confirmation e-mail immediately after your order that has the same links.

If you have trouble saving the file from the confirmation e-mail, try these steps:

  1. Go to the homepage FaithVisuals.com.
  2. Click the "My Account" icon (
) in the top right corner.
  3. Sign in as a Registered User
  4. Scroll down to the Order/Billing History at the bottom of the page.
  5. Right click on the title that's underlined, and click "Save Target."
  6. Save the file to your local computer.
  7. Repeat Steps #5 and #6 for each file you want to access.

Because video file sizes are larger than other downloads, your download time will be longer. Your download time will vary based on the file size and your connection speed. To estimate your download time, try this download time calculator.

What format are your videos?

In order to provide a product that almost any church with nearly any kind of hardware and software can use, we currently offer two major video formats at Faith Visuals.

Windows Media (WMV)

The Windows Media format will play on almost any PC hardware as long as you're running at least Windows 95, have at least 512 MB of RAM and have Windows Media Player 9 (or better) installed.

In our tests we found that the Windows media format offered surprisingly high quality and detail while still retaining a relatively small file size. One benefit to using Windows Media is the ability to drag and drop a Windows Media file onto a PowerPoint presentation. Doing so will automatically embed the video right into your slide show where you can position the video and resize it to fit exactly where you want it to on-screen.

Both PC and Mac users can play Windows Media files. See our System Requirements to download the Windows Media Player for PCs and the Flip4Mac QuickTime component for Macs.

MPEG-1

The MPEG-1 standard is one of the oldest video formats available, and it is the most widely supported video format of all. If you can play DVDs on your computer, you can probably play this video. If you're on a PC, try using the Windows Media Player. If you're on the Mac, use the Apple QuickTime player.

How do I know which format to choose?

You should check with your projection and playback software to know which format will work best for you, or try one of our free video samples in various formats to determine what works best in your situation.

Each video encoding format offers unique advantages and disadvantages, and there may be times when some of our videos look better in one format than in another. Unfortunately, there's no way to predict when that will happen, so we suggest you simply settle on one video format that works reliably and consistently for you. But here are some rules-of-thumb you can start out with:

  • Generally, if you're using a Windows computer (and especially if you're using Office software such as PowerPoint) you'll have better success working with Windows Media (WMV) files.
  • If you're using a Mac computer, you'll generally find it easier to work with either QuickTime (MOV) or the MPEG-1 (MPG) file formats.
  • If your computer hardware and software is more than a couple years old, or if you simply don't have much RAM memory installed, you should consider trying the MPEG-1 (MPG) format first.

I had a problem downloading. Can you help?

if you didn't receive your download after you placed your order, see "How do I download the visual media I ordered?" above.

If you experienced another issue, like your Internet connection timed out, you can try to download again later, or contact Customer Care.

What computer specifications do I need to download your video?

Almost any modern computer will have sufficient horsepower to play our videos. If you're using Windows, we recommend Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows Media Center. However, as long as you have the proper software installed you should be able to playback these videos even using Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows 95.

We do recommend you have at least 512 kilobytes of RAM installed on your computer, preferably a gigabyte or more, and we recommend a Pentium III processor or better.

If you're using a Mac, we recommend the Intel-based iMac, MacBook, and MacBook Pro. However, you should still be able to playback these videos using an iMac or a Mac Mini as long as you have the proper software installed. Older Macs running Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or later and QuickTime version 6.5 or better should also still play the videos just fine.

If you have some problems playing any of our videos, first make sure you are using the latest version of software for your purposes. Here is what we recommend:

For Windows Media files (WMV):

For MPEG-1 files: Windows Media Player (PC) and Apple QuickTime (Mac and PC)

The MPEG-1 format is an older, cross-platform format. You should be able to use either of the above players on your system. If you are using some other proprietary presentation/player software, please check with your software manufacturer's website for minimum system requirements, and to make sure you're using the latest codecs to read these file formats.

If you do experience difficulties, please contact Customer Care.
