On Christmas we celebrate with our children the birth of the Christ child into the world. On Christmas Mary was in labor, in a stable, with no doctor and no family expect her husband to support her. On Good Friday we mourn the death of Christ knowing the end of the story, anticipating Easter morning. On Good Friday Mary sat at the foot of the cross, watching her baby boy drip blood and gasp for breath, not knowing how God would bring victory out of her heartbreak. Christ was not the only one who sacrificed for our salvation. What mother wouldn't prefer to be the one bleeding on the cross?
