The Tithe is "pre-law" (look in Genesis)... Abraham tithed to the priest Melchisidec... This was obviously practiced before the Israelite kingdom was set up.

That is why we should just let people just be cheerful givers, instead of demanding they obey an Old Testament Mosaic law. Christians are under grace, not under the law.
