Lighting
When I begin using screens during a service to project video, do I need to make any adjustments to my lighting?

I agree that it makes sense to lower the lights for a video. We had to modify the stage lighting when we installed our projector as we had flood lights for the choir area which was right in front of our screen. We usually split the choir if there are visuals to be projected while the choir is singing. The screen is above them if they are sitting but tall men block the bottom of the screen when standing.

My opinion? Yes. Most video clips that are not animations are relatively dark, and unless you have exceptionally bright projectors(s), you will see a real benefit from dropping the overall light levels. Cinemas all use very bright projectors and huge screens, yet still drop the ambient lighting, because the impact is increased. Of course you need to make sure, as you do for all dtata projection, that the ambient light falling on the screen is minimised. You may also gain a lot from the projector - many have a 'video' setting which adjusts brightness and contrast in a way which is optimised for video. But if you can also dim the overall lighting, you will see an improvement in the impact of your video clips.
